8. Saving electricity
Hunt down waste! To meaningfully reduce our energy consumption, there is a first step that we all need to take: eliminate power-hungry appliances, use devices with low power consumption, and change our behaviour.
After that comes the second step: switch from being a consumer to a producer. It is already possible to acquire mini wind turbines and solar panels. However, the costs and difficulties in storing the energy produced still remains a barrier to becoming fully self-sufficient.
So what is the next step? The electricity grid needs to be renewed so that intermittent and diffused production is utilised to the full, and storage solutions must be researched.
